Belarus July 1944. M4A2 Sherman No.203, Soviet 244th tank regiment. Yalta, April 1944. I dve američke verzije: M4A2 Sherman No.8392, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland USA, December 1943. M4A2 Sherman No. C40 “CAESAR”, 2nd tank battalion, US – Marines Corps. Tinian, Marian Islands, July 1944.

Photo: Predrag Stamenković Text: Dejan Banovački ABOUT THE TANK The tank that is the most produced one during WWII in many different versions. This tank was involved in almost all the battles on all the continents where the war was fought. It belonged to the class of medium tanks. The main issue of this machine until the end of war, was weak armor protection, which was experienced first-hand by its crews. Positive aspects of this vehicle were mass production, reliable engine and great speed. A contingent of these tanks was shipped to Soviet Union through the lend-lease program from Allies. It was used after WWII as well in many local clashes and wars. Many armies in the world owned a number of them. ABOUT THE MODEL: Considering many editions of the model of this tank from different companies, Zvezda made a pleasant surprise for modeling fans. The model comes packed in the standard Zvezda boxing with the interesting illustration of Sherman in the Red Army armor column. Parts of the model are casted in light grey plastic and come on eight trees. On a separate tree of transparent plastic there are parts for the optical instruments as well as lights on the tank. Overall the detailing is respectable. Decals are given for four versions of the tank: M4A2 Sherman No.152 Soviet 1st mechanized corps. Belarus July 1944. M4A2 Sherman No.203, Soviet 244th tank regiment. Yalta, April 1944. And two US versions: M4A2 Sherman No.8392, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland USA, December 1943. M4A2 Sherman No. C40 “CAESAR”, 2nd tank battalion, US – Marines Corps. Tinian, Marian Islands, July 1944. Painting instructions are given in Zvezda and Tamiya codes. The model itself is in any case a testimony that Zvezda improved highly in terms of the production quality, and this is another treat for fans of AFV modeling. We would like to thank Zvezda for the supplying us with this review sample.
